It&#8217;s even harder to return to the dating scene, only to find yourself being filtered out based on superficial qualities.  So it\u2019s no surprise that one of the most common questions I get as a dating coach is: <strong>\u201cShould I lie about my age on dating apps?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Ageism is very real in the online dating world. Whether you\u2019re in your thirties, forties, or even seventies (yes, I&#8217;ve successfully worked with many 70 year olds!), there\u2019s a good chance you\u2019ve wondered if shaving a couple of years off might give you a competitive edge. But is it worth it? You could be a vibrant, youthful 51-year-old who he would be thrilled to meet in real life, but because of that filter, he\u2019ll never know you exist. That\u2019s not a reflection of you\u2014it\u2019s simply a case of a man choosing filters without truly thinking things out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Women will often do the same thing.  A woman in her late forties might be okay with a man in her 50&#8217;s, but her cutoff on the filters is 55.
