Over the past decade I have\u00a0supervised the creation of over 20,000 profiles.\u00a0 In addition, I have probably read more online dating profiles than any one man should read in a lifetime!\u00a0 Sounds exhausting, right?\u00a0 Luckily for you, all this work has allowed me to acquire a lifetime’s\u00a0worth of knowledge\u00a0that I am more than happy to share!<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
So let’s start today’s lesson by transforming some\u00a0terribly written profiles into the type of profiles that quality men\u00a0will be\u00a0excited to respond to. And\u00a0if you are looking for more actionable advice after\u00a0reading this article, I put together a free page filled with\u00a0some of my best advice on photos, emailing, texting, and more.\u00a0 You can find all this information here<\/a><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Let’s start by\u00a0taking a look at the negative energy profile:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n “I’m not here to meet anyone who plays games. \u00a0 And if\u00a0you are close-minded, sit on the couch all day, or\u00a0don’t have a job, please don’t message me. \u00a0I’m not interested.”<\/p>\n <\/p>\n While I think we could all agree with\u00a0desires listed above, the manner in which they are\u00a0presented\u00a0create the image of a woman who is negative, possibly high maintenance, and\u00a0potentially has baggage from previous relationships.\u00a0 Overall,\u00a0this woman feels\u00a0like a complete downer.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n I know receiving emails from low quality men\u00a0is frustrating, but listing what you don’t want in men won’t deter them.\u00a0 These low quality men\u00a0either don’t care or aren’t\u00a0reading your profile anyway.\u00a0 Ironically, negative lists will only serve to\u00a0scare away the high quality men that you are<\/em> trying to attract.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Let’s revise the example above into profile writing that will attract high quality men: \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n “If you are adventurous, active, and\u00a0driven, you will\u00a0definitely have my attention.\u00a0 If\u00a0you can also make me laugh and love a\u00a0spontaneous road trip every now and then, even better.\u00a0 It’s a little known fact that I’m an all time great\u00a0at\u00a0creating unforgettable\u00a0road trip memories!\u00a0 You provide the snacks, I’ll take care of the rest!\u00a0 Fair enough, right?\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The revised profile still expresses the same desires (a man who is driven, active, open), but this time, creates the image of a woman who is upbeat, playful, excited, and positive-minded.\u00a0 The personality of this\u00a0woman\u00a0shines through, presenting a woman that is infinitely more likable and attractive to a man.\u00a0 Always remember, positive energy attracts positive attention.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n An example of the boring and cliche profile: \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n “My name is Nancy, I currently work as a Sales Director, and I really\u00a0love what I do.”<\/p>\n <\/p>\n If you want to attract a man who is in high demand, you can’t afford to blend in with the competition.\u00a0 While there is nothing inherently bad about the\u00a0statement above, there is nothing\u00a0great about it either.\u00a0 The problem is, its ridiculously boring and will instantly make a man’s eyes glaze over.\u00a0 Instead, Nancy should focus on using her occupation to\u00a0showcase her best personality traits.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Let’s revise the example above: <\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n “For “work” you could find me\u00a0chasing down all types of new goals as a\u00a0Sales Director.\u00a0 Not only is my job is exciting at times, but I get to\u00a0have a whole lot of fun meeting and interacting with all types of incredible people every day!\u00a0 What more could I ask for?<\/p>\n <\/p>\n In the new and improved profile example, Nancy uses her occupation to highlight some of her best characteristics. \u00a0She is social, loves to have fun, challenges herself professionally,\u00a0and comes across as a positive-minded person who loves life. \u00a0These are very attractive qualities.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n When you write\u00a0an online dating profile, every word and statement should have a specific purpose. \u00a0If it doesn’t, it either shouldn’t be there, or needs to be re-written.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Let’s now look at an example\u00a0of the needy and desperate sounding profile:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n “I would love nothing more than to finally get off this site.\u00a0\u00a0 I really want to meet a man who is smart, funny, and has a good job. \u00a0 If you are out there, I hope to hear from you.”<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The first statement implies that the writer\u00a0hasn’t had any luck with online dating.\u00a0 This creates the vibe of a woman who is a bit\u00a0desperate\u00a0to meet someone (even if that isn’t accurate).\u00a0 Using the words “really want”\u00a0and “hope to hear from you”\u00a0create the image of a woman who is needy (really want) and creates the image of a woman who is just sitting around waiting for a man to rescue her (hope to hear from you).\u00a0 This may not be true at all, but perception is everything.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The better way to write your profile: \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n “The\u00a0perfect\u00a0man\u00a0for me would love to learn new things,\u00a0isn’t afraid to let loose and laugh a little,\u00a0and enjoys achieving new goals as much as I do!
